More than 18 IIE members spent a wonderful afternoon discovering, experiencing and learning the work of Industrial Engineering in Hong Kong Disneyland on 9 January 2008.

Mr. Brian Yu, the manager of the Industrial Engineering division of Hong Kong Disneyland gave us a riefing on their organisations, the work style and some examples of Disney improvement using Industrial engineering.

Mr. Brian Yu (in the middle), the manager of Industrial Engineering, Hong Kong Disneyland, received souvenir from IIE(HK) representatives, Dr. Wilson Yu (left) and Mr.Dicky Chou (right).
After the briefing, Brian and his team took our members to visit a number of attractions, restaurants and shops to see how Industrial Engineering concepts can be applied to real situations. Our members were very impressed by the seamless workflow in the in-site clothing and costume service. We were also surprised by the flexible layout and planning in one restaurant which can be resized according to the demand. The visit demonstrated us a successful example of how Industrial Engineering techniques are applied in an ntertainment/leisure business.
