RFID in SMEs of Hong Kong: Counterfeit Prevention, Physical Asset Management and Commercial Applications.
About 190 delegates from the public, the industries and the press participated in seminar entitled “RFID in SMEs of Hong Kong: Counterfeit Prevention, Physical Asset Management and Commercial Applications” held on Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 26 October 2007.
The event was organized by Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) and Innovation and Technology Commission, and co-organized by various organizations including Autotoll Limited, GS1 Hong Kong, Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE) and The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).
Dr Kwok Siu Keung, Project Coordinator and Principle Investigator, PolyU officiated the welcome speech of the Seminar. Three keynotes talks in areas of “Retail Management Applications and Counterfeit Prevention”, “Physical Asset Management (PAM)” and “New Developed Technologies” were delivered in this event. Moreover, experts and professionals from the industry gathered to share with Seminar delegates the latest developments of RFID technology in Counterfeit Prevention, Physical Asset Management and Commercial Applications. To share the research achievement of our RFID solutions with the public and the industries, a Showcase was opened for public viewing and displayed a total of about 5 RFID deliverables. These deliverables included:
Moreover, the Portal (http://www.rfid.ise.polyu.edu.hk) was promoted to the press, the industry and the public and the membership scheme is established to comprise people or organizations from various industries for commercialization and technology transfer. During the seminar, over 150 participants have joined our membership scheme. About 500 technical booklets were distributed to the industry, the public and the presses. Finally, the solution “RFID Location Awareness System (Locaware)” was reported by 7 local media on 27 October 2007.
